Exploring the math textbook and workbook. We found the copyright, authors, and
then the kids read the glossary for words that were new to them, that they don't know yet.
It is a reminder that there is a lot to learn. Plus, it was there first time to the board all together. They learn to negotiate the space, use resources talk to each other...fun to see how well they nicely they were talking to each other.

The new lights in the classroom give off the white cloud above their heads. These are LED
will last for 15 years!

It was cool that there were no repeats of words. Plus they had a table conversation that the definition of Glossary they constructed...it shows their past knowledge. The kids were laughing too, because, the Glossary in the math book has Spanish words as well.
We did the same exploring with the Trophies text we used in Readers' Workshop today. And the kids earned 2 tokens in the area of Integrity and Optimism on the PBIS Matrix scale.
They have really been working to keep up with their things and share space. Plus they have met goals on listening and helping, moving to P.E. and following directions.

August 30, our first day... loads of good communication and work together...sign planner, please. :)

These are the ideas shared from 'Think Pair Share". For the
the kids used how to improve the Name Toss Activity. They really
cooperated and by putting the ideas of what worked and didn't
work into a graphic organizer, like a chart, they put into
it helped them all see our good thinking together.

Sharing some of the fun information about themselves. We can always get to know each other better.

For 4th grades, these subjects last about 30 minutes. The
4th gets Chinese taught by Teacher Fu twice a week.
They will learn to write in the Chinese characters too.

An example of two of the class jobs

Almost got everyone in the picture as they were hard a work. They had a very productive first day.

Welcome to 4th Grade!

 Hi Kids and Families!

These are some of the materials we will be reading from and using as a first step in building projects and planning field trips.

I am so looking forward to the Open House that starts at 5:30 p.m.

A syllabus will be given and there will be time to chat about all kinds of things for this year.

See you soon!
